On March 29, 2021, Dr Sibrina Collins, the Executive Director of the Marburger STEM Center at Lawrence Technological University, presented on her work, entitled “Superhero Science: The Importance of Storytelling in Chemical Education.” The presentation discussed how chemistry educators can engage their students more effectively in the classroom, including strategies for equity in the classroom. The conversation highlighted the intellectual contributions of Professor Gretory H. Robinson and Alice Agusta Ball, before discussing the use of popular movies, such as Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, for classroom engagement with students. The public engagement initiatives of Lawrence Technological University’s Marburger STEM Center were also highlighted.
